Prime Rib Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Prime Rib Roast: A 3-4 bone prime rib roast, bone-in or boneless
  • Kosher Salt
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • Olive Oil
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Dried Thyme
  • Dried Rosemary

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Roast:
    • Remove the roast from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
    • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
    • Season the roast generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
    • Drizzle with olive oil and rub the seasonings into the meat.
  2. Roast the Prime Rib:
    • Place the seasoned roast, fat side up, on a roasting rack set in a roasting pan.
    • Roast for 20-25 minutes at 450°F (230°C) to sear the outside.
    • Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (160°C).
    • Continue roasting until the internal temperature reaches your desired level of doneness:
      • Medium-Rare: 125°F (52°C)
      • Medium: 135°F (57°C)
      • Medium-Well: 145°F (63°C)
    • Note: The internal temperature will continue to rise slightly after removing the roast from the oven.
  3. Rest and Serve:
    • Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for at least 20-30 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
    • Carve the roast against the grain into thick slices.
    • Serve immediately with your favorite sides, such as roasted potatoes, asparagus, or a creamy horseradish sauce.
