Ingredients:
- Prime Rib Roast: A 3-4 bone prime rib roast, bone-in or boneless
- Kosher Salt
- Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- Olive Oil
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Dried Thyme
- Dried Rosemary
Instructions:
- Prep the Roast:
- Remove the roast from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Season the roast generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
- Drizzle with olive oil and rub the seasonings into the meat.
- Roast the Prime Rib:
- Place the seasoned roast, fat side up, on a roasting rack set in a roasting pan.
- Roast for 20-25 minutes at 450°F (230°C) to sear the outside.
- Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (160°C).
- Continue roasting until the internal temperature reaches your desired level of doneness:
- Medium-Rare: 125°F (52°C)
- Medium: 135°F (57°C)
- Medium-Well: 145°F (63°C)
- Note: The internal temperature will continue to rise slightly after removing the roast from the oven.
- Rest and Serve:
- Remove the roast from the oven and let it rest for at least 20-30 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
- Carve the roast against the grain into thick slices.
- Serve immediately with your favorite sides, such as roasted potatoes, asparagus, or a creamy horseradish sauce.
