Ingredients
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- ½ pound ground pork (optional for extra flavor)
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tbsp dried)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
- 1 cup marinara or pasta sauce (plus extra for topping)
- Extra Parmesan for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork (if using), breadcrumbs, Parmesan, onion, garlic, eggs, milk, parsley, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and 1 cup marinara sauce.
- Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Do not overmix to keep it tender.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place in the prepared pan.
- Spread extra marinara sauce over the top and sprinkle with more Parmesan cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 55–65 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, or a fresh salad.
