My 14-Year-Old Daughter Made TURTLE CARAMEL CAKE

Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on box)
  • 1 bag (14 oz) caramels, unwrapped
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • Optional: sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Bake the bottom layer: Prepare cake mix as directed. Pour half of the batter into a greased 9×13 inch pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes.
  2. Melt caramel sauce: In a saucepan over low heat, melt caramels, evaporated milk, and butter, stirring until smooth.
  3. Layer the goodness: Pour caramel mixture over baked cake. Sprinkle with pecans and chocolate chips.
  4. Finish it off: Pour the remaining cake batter over the top. Bake for another 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool and serve: Let it cool slightly, drizzle with extra melted chocolate or caramel if you want to go extra, then slice and serve.
