Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

These chewy and festive cookies combine the classic chocolate chip cookie with the sweet and bright flavor of maraschino cherries. They’re perfect for any occasion and are sure to be a hit with both kids and adults!  

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs  
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract  
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped  

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.  
  3. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.  
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend this mixture into the butter mixture.
  5. Add Chocolate Chips and Cherries: Gently fold in the chopped maraschino cherries and chocolate chips.
  6. Bake: Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden.
  7. Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
