Louisiana Voodoo Fries

Ingredients

  • For the fries:
    • 4 large russet potatoes (or 1 bag frozen French fries)
    • Vegetable oil (for frying or baking)
    • Salt, to taste
    • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • For the toppings:
    • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    • ½ cup cooked bacon, crumbled
    • ½ cup pickled jalapeño slices
    • ¼ cup green onions, chopped
    • ¼ cup ranch dressing (or voodoo sauce, see below)

Optional Voodoo Sauce (for extra flavor):

  • ½ cup mayo
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tsp hot sauce
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Mix all and chill before serving.

Instructions

  1. Prepare the fries:
    • If using fresh potatoes: wash, peel, and cut into fries. Soak in cold water for 30 mins, then drain and dry thoroughly.
    • Fry in hot oil (350°F/175°C) until golden brown and crispy, or bake/air-fry according to package or preference.
  2. Season the fries:
    • While hot, toss fries with salt and Cajun seasoning.
  3. Assemble:
    • Place fries on a serving plate or tray.
    • Sprinkle cheddar cheese over hot fries to melt.
    • Add bacon crumbles, jalapeños, and green onions.
  4. Drizzle:
    • Finish with ranch or voodoo sauce drizzled over the top.
  5. Serve immediately while hot and crispy!
