Ingredients
- 1-inch piece of fresh ginger root
- 1 small onion (preferably red onion)
- 1 medium lemon
- 2 cups of water
- Honey (optional, for sweetness)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients:
- Peel and chop the ginger into small pieces.
- Peel and slice the onion thinly.
- Cut the lemon in half and squeeze out the juice, discarding the seeds.
- Boil the Water:
- In a small pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
- Add Ginger and Onion:
- Once the water is boiling, add the chopped ginger and onion slices to the water. Let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
- Add Lemon Juice:
- After simmering, remove the pot from the heat. Add the fresh lemon juice into the water mixture.
- Strain and Serve:
- Strain the liquid to remove the ginger, onion, and any pulp.
- Pour the strained ginger-onion-lemon water into a glass. You can add honey for sweetness if desired.
- Drink:
- Drink this mixture while it’s warm. For best results, consume it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
