Ingredients
- 1 ripe pineapple
- A sharp knife
- A glass or jar of water
- A flower pot (6–8 inches)
- Well-draining potting mix (cactus/succulent soil works well)
- A sunny windowsill or outdoor spot with bright indirect light
- Optional: rooting hormone
Instructions
- 🟡 Choose a Healthy Pineapple
Pick a fresh, ripe pineapple with green, healthy leaves and no mold at the base. - ✂️ Remove the Top
Twist or cut off the leafy crown. Remove excess fruit flesh around the base to prevent rotting. - 🍃 Strip Lower Leaves
Peel off the bottom 1 inch of leaves to expose tiny root buds around the stem. - 🌿 Dry the Top
Let the crown dry for 1–2 days to allow the cut to heal and reduce chances of rot. - 💧 Root in Water (Optional)
Place the crown in a jar with water so only the stem is submerged. Set in a sunny spot and wait 2–3 weeks for roots to form. - 🪴 Prepare the Pot
Fill your pot with well-draining soil. Make a hole in the center deep enough for the crown. - 🌱 Plant the Crown
Plant the rooted (or dry) crown into the soil. Press gently around the base to secure it. - ☀️ Provide Sunlight
Place the pot where it gets at least 6 hours of bright, indirect light daily. - 💦 Water Sparingly
Water lightly once a week. Let the soil dry out between waterings. Avoid overwatering. - 🕰️ Be Patient
Pineapples grow slowly! In 1–2 years, you’ll see a flower bud emerge, which later becomes the fruit.
