Homemade Churros Recipe

Ingredients:

  • For the Dough:
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup water
    • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • For the Sugar-Cinnamon Mixture:
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Make the Dough:
    • In a medium saucepan, combine water, vegetable oil, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
    • Quickly whisk in the flour and baking powder until a smooth dough forms.
    • Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
    • Transfer the dough to a pastry bag fitted with a star tip.
  2. Fry the Churros:
    • Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
    • Pipe the dough into the hot oil, cutting the churros into desired lengths.
    • Fry the churros until golden brown, turning occasionally.
    • Remove the churros from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  3. Coat with Sugar-Cinnamon:
    • While the churros are still warm, combine the sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
    • Roll the churros in the sugar-cinnamon mixture to coat.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve the churros immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as chocolate sauce or caramel sauce.
