Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 ½ tablespoons sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Oil for frying
  • ½ cup sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then remove from heat.
  2. Stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball of dough.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  5. Pipe 4-6 inch long strips of dough into the hot oil, frying a few at a time. Fry until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per batch.

  7. In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon. Roll the warm churros in the mixture until coated.
  8. Serve with chocolate sauce or enjoy them plain!
