Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 2 ½ tablespoons sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- Oil for frying
- ½ cup sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then remove from heat.
- Stir in the flour until the mixture forms a ball of dough.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Spoon the dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
- Pipe 4-6 inch long strips of dough into the hot oil, frying a few at a time. Fry until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
- Remove the churros from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon. Roll the warm churros in the mixture until coated.
- Serve with chocolate sauce or enjoy them plain!
