Ham & Cheese Bites Recipe

These easy ham and cheese bites are perfect for appetizers, snacks, or party platters. They’re quick to assemble and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cooked ham, finely diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1 package (17.3 ounces) puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Everything bagel seasoning, or poppy seeds (optional, for topping)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the diced ham, shredded cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce (if using), and green onion (if using). Mix well.
  3. Prepare Puff Pastry: Unfold the thawed puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. If using 2 sheets, slightly roll them out to even them.
  4. Assemble Bites:
    • Spread the ham and cheese mixture evenly over the puff pastry sheet.
    • Roll the puff pastry sheet up tightly, starting from one long edge, like a jelly roll.
    • Cut the roll into slices about 1-inch thick.
    • Place the slices cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Egg Wash and Topping: Brush the top of each bite with the beaten egg. Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning or poppy seeds, if desired.
  6. Bake: Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and the filling is heated through.
  7. Cool and Serve: Let the bites cool slightly before serving.

Tips and Variations:

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling.
  • Use different types of cheese, such as Swiss, Gruyere, or pepper jack.
  • Add finely chopped bell peppers or pickles to the filling for extra flavor and texture.
  • For a sweeter version, a small amount of honey mustard can be added.
  • You can use crescent roll dough instead of puff pastry.
  • These can be served with a side of your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or honey mustard.
