Grandma’s Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced (or canned peaches, drained)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (for batter)
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix peaches, brown sugar, 1 cup granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and 1 cup granulated sugar. Stir in milk and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  5. Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter (do not stir).
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with vanilla ice cream!
