Crispy Baked Chicken Wings Recipe

These Crispy Baked Chicken Wings are a healthier alternative to fried wings, yet they still deliver that irresistible crispy skin and juicy meat. Tossed in a simple yet flavorful seasoning blend, they’re perfect for game day, parties, or a casual dinner.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds chicken wings (about 10-12 wings)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free, for crispiness)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or cooking spray)
  • Optional: Sauce of your choice (BBQ, buffalo, teriyaki, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Wings: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels.
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  3. Season the Wings: Add the chicken wings to the bowl with the dry ingredients. Toss until the wings are evenly coated with the seasoning mix.
  4. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Drizzle with olive oil or spray with cooking spray.
  5. Bake the Wings: Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through for even cooking. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
  6. Optional: Sauce the Wings: If desired, toss the cooked wings in your favorite sauce. Return them to the baking sheet and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the sauce is caramelized and sticky.
  7. Serve: Serve the crispy baked chicken wings hot, with your favorite dipping sauces and sides.

Tips and Notes:

  • Pat Wings Dry: Patting the wings dry is crucial for achieving crispy skin.
  • Aluminum-Free Baking Powder: Ensure you use aluminum-free baking powder to avoid any metallic taste.
  • Don’t Overcrowd: Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet, as this will prevent the wings from crisping up.
  • Adjust Seasoning: Adjust the seasoning blend to your preference.
  • Sauce Options: Get creative with your sauce choices!
