INGREDENT
- 2 slices of fresh bread (white, sourdough, or whole grain)
- 1–2 ripe tomatoes, sliced
- 1–2 tablespoons mayonnaise (or cream cheese if preferred)
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Optional: fresh basil leaves, arugula, or a sprinkle of garlic powder
Instructions
- Toast the bread slices lightly if you prefer a bit of crunch, or leave them soft for a more classic feel.
- Spread mayonnaise evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Layer the tomato slices on one slice of the bread. Make sure the tomatoes are evenly distributed.
- Sprinkle salt and freshly ground black pepper generously over the tomatoes.
- (Optional) Add basil leaves or a few arugula leaves for extra flavor.
- Top with the second slice of bread, mayo side down.
- Slice in half and serve immediately.
