A TOMATO SANDWICH

INGREDENT

  • 2 slices of fresh bread (white, sourdough, or whole grain)
  • 1–2 ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 1–2 tablespoons mayonnaise (or cream cheese if preferred)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: fresh basil leaves, arugula, or a sprinkle of garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Toast the bread slices lightly if you prefer a bit of crunch, or leave them soft for a more classic feel.
  2. Spread mayonnaise evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Layer the tomato slices on one slice of the bread. Make sure the tomatoes are evenly distributed.
  4. Sprinkle salt and freshly ground black pepper generously over the tomatoes.
  5. (Optional) Add basil leaves or a few arugula leaves for extra flavor.
  6. Top with the second slice of bread, mayo side down.
  7. Slice in half and serve immediately.
