INGREDIENTS
For the Morning Longevity Tea:
- 2–3 slices fresh ginger
- 1 tsp goji berries
- 1 tsp chrysanthemum flowers (dried)
- 1 tsp green tea or ginseng tea (optional)
- 1–2 cups hot water
- 1 tsp honey (optional)
For the Nourishing Congee (Rice Porridge):
- 1/2 cup jasmine or glutinous rice
- 5 cups water or light vegetable broth
- 3–4 thin slices fresh ginseng or astragalus root (optional)
- 1/4 cup cooked mung beans or adzuki beans
- Salt to taste
- Chopped green onions, sesame oil, or soy sauce (optional garnish)
INSTRUCTIONS
🌿 Morning Longevity Tea:
- Place ginger, goji berries, and chrysanthemum into a teapot or large mug.
- Pour in hot (not boiling) water and steep for 5–10 minutes.
- Add honey to taste if desired. Sip slowly in the morning.
🍲 Nourishing Congee:
- Rinse rice under cold water until it runs clear.
- In a medium pot, bring the rice and water (or broth) to a boil.
- Add ginseng/astragalus slices if using.
- Lower heat to a gentle simmer and cook uncovered for 45–60 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture becomes a smooth, thick porridge.
- Stir in cooked mung beans or adzuki beans.
- Season lightly with salt. Garnish with chopped green onions or a drizzle of sesame oil.
