- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2 tablespoons sugar (for topping)
- Whipped cream or powdered sugar (optional, for serving)

- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, alternating with milk, and mix until just combined.
- Pour batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
- Arrange sliced strawberries evenly on top of the batter. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sugar.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Serve plain, or top with whipped cream or a dusting of powdered sugar.
If you’d like, I can adjust this for a layered cake, a no-bake version, or with strawberry frosting too — just say so! 🍓🍰✨
