Ingredients
- 6 slices thick-cut bacon
- 2 slices of your favorite sandwich bread (toasted)
- 2 large leaves of crisp romaine lettuce (or iceberg)
- 2 ripe tomato slices
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional, for a little kick)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Butter (for toasting bread, optional)
Instructions
- Cook the bacon:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Drain on paper towels. - Prepare the bread:
Lightly butter the bread slices and toast them in a skillet or toaster until golden brown and crispy. - Assemble the sandwich:
Spread mayonnaise evenly over one slice of toasted bread. If using, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on the other slice. - Layer the lettuce leaves over the mayo. Add the tomato slices on top of the lettuce. Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper to enhance flavor.
- Place the crispy bacon strips on top of the tomato.
- Top with the second slice of bread, mustard side down.
- Serve immediately, optionally cut in half for easier handling.
