Ingredients
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (90g) powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Optional for decoration:
- Granulated sugar for sprinkling
- Chocolate for dipping or drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Sift in the flour and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms. (If the dough is too crumbly, add 1–2 teaspoons of milk.)
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls or shape into desired cookie shapes (you can also pipe them using a star-tip pastry bag for a fancy look).
- Place cookies on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Flatten slightly with a fork or thumb if needed.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are just lightly golden.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Optional: Once cooled, dip half of each cookie in melted chocolate or sprinkle with sugar.
Enjoy your melt-in-your-mouth butter cookies! Let me know if you’d like a version with added flavors (like lemon or almond).
