Ingredients
For the Cake:
- 2 ½ cups (315g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk

- 4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar, sifted
- 1–2 tbsp milk (as needed for consistency)
- ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Prepare for Baking:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a standard 9×5-inch loaf pan or bundt pan.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
3. Cream Butter and Sugar:
In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3–4 minutes.
4. Add Eggs and Vanilla:
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
With the mixer on low speed, alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
