Ingredients
- 1 medium-sized fresh onion (red or white)
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
- 1 cup lukewarm water
- Cotton ball or clean dropper (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Onion Juice:
- Peel and finely grate the onion.
- Place the grated onion in a clean cloth or sieve and squeeze out the juice into a small clean bowl.
- Optional — Mix with Honey:
- If you prefer, mix 1 teaspoon of fresh honey into the onion juice. Honey has antibacterial properties but this step is optional.
- How to Use:
- Traditional folk use: Some people dab a tiny amount of onion juice around the closed eyelids using a clean cotton ball. Be extremely careful — onion juice can sting.
- Safer alternative: Consume the onion juice by mixing 1–2 teaspoons with lukewarm water and drinking it once daily. Onion contains antioxidants that may support overall eye health when included in your diet.
- Repeat:
- Do this daily for up to 5 days.
- Always use freshly prepared juice.
Important Note:
This is a traditional folk remedy. Onion juice can irritate eyes and may not be safe to put directly in the eyes. For any vision concerns, consult an eye specialist. Eating a balanced diet with leafy greens, carrots, and antioxidants is a proven, safer way to support healthy eyes.
