Two Tone Tang Ice Pops Recipe

Two-Tone Tang Ice Pops are a colorful, refreshing frozen treat made by layering powdered drink mixes into vibrant popsicles. The combination of strawberry and passion fruit creates a striking contrast of pink and yellow, making them visually appealing as well as delicious. These pops are simple to prepare, requiring only a few ingredients and minimal effort, yet they deliver a burst of fruity flavor that is perfect for hot days. Their playful appearance makes them especially popular with children, but adults will also enjoy the nostalgic charm of powdered drink mixes transformed into icy desserts.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 packet strawberry-flavored powdered drink mix
  • 1 packet passion fruit-flavored powdered drink mix
  • 4 cups cold water (divided)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (optional, depending on sweetness preference)
  • Ice pop sleeves or molds

INSTRUCTION

  1. Prepare the strawberry mix In a pitcher, combine the strawberry drink mix with 2 cups of cold water. Stir until fully dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness with sugar if desired.
  2. Prepare the passion fruit mix In a separate pitcher, combine the passion fruit drink mix with 2 cups of cold water. Stir until dissolved. Adjust sweetness if needed.
  3. Layer the pops Pour half of the strawberry mixture into the bottom of each ice pop sleeve or mold. Place in the freezer for about 1 hour, or until partially set.
  4. Add the second layer Once the first layer is firm enough to hold, pour the passion fruit mixture on top to create a two-tone effect. Freeze for another 2–3 hours, or until completely solid.
  5. Serve and enjoy Remove from the freezer and serve immediately. The pops should display a clear contrast between the pink strawberry layer and the yellow passion fruit layer.

SERVINGS

Makes approximately 8–10 ice pops, depending on mold size.

NOTE

  • For sharper color contrast, allow the first layer to freeze completely before adding the second.
  • Experiment with other powdered drink flavors to create different color combinations.
  • If using molds instead of sleeves, insert sticks after the first layer has partially frozen to ensure they stay upright.
  • Store pops in the freezer for up to 2 weeks, sealed in a bag or container to prevent freezer burn.
  • These pops are ideal for summer parties, picnics, or as a quick homemade dessert.
