Ingredients
- 3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup (240ml) warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil (plus extra for brushing)
- 2 tbsp plain yogurt (for extra softness)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, salt, yogurt, and olive oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 4–6 equal pieces. Shape into round or oval discs.
- Preheat a pan (or oven to 220°C / 425°F).
- Pan method: Cook each bread on medium heat for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and puffy.
- Oven method: Place on a lined tray, brush with olive oil, and bake for 10–12 minutes until golden brown.
- Brush with olive oil or melted butter while still warm.
