- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
- 1 ¼ cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ cup plain yogurt (optional, for extra softness)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds or nigella seeds (for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture, followed by olive oil and yogurt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Shape the Bread: Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal portions. Shape into oval or round loaves and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Cover with a clean cloth and let rise again for 30 minutes.
- Prepare for Baking: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Beat the egg and brush it over the dough. Sprinkle sesame or nigella seeds on top.
- Bake: Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
