Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (optional, for extra crunch)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
For the Honey Garlic Sauce:
- 1/3 cup honey
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
- Prep the Chicken: Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
- Coat: Dredge each piece in flour, dip in beaten eggs, then coat with panko breadcrumbs (optional) or just flour/cornstarch for a lighter coating.
- Fry: Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken pieces in batches until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Make the Sauce: In a small saucepan, combine honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, ketchup, and vinegar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Stir in cornstarch slurry if you want it thicker, and cook until the sauce slightly thickens.
- Combine: Toss the crispy chicken bites in the warm honey garlic sauce until well coated.
- Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if you like. Serve hot over rice or with a side of veggies.
