INGREDENT
- 6 small apples (Granny Smith or Gala work great)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- ¾ cup light corn syrup
- ½ cup water
- ½ tsp red or black gel food coloring (optional but fun for Halloween!)
- ½ tsp cinnamon (optional for added flavor)
- Candy sticks or wooden skewers
- Cooking spray or parchment paper
- Halloween sprinkles or crushed candies (optional for decoration)
Instructions
- Prep the Apples:
Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Remove stems and insert candy sticks into the top of each apple. - Set Up:
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray. Have your sprinkles or toppings ready if using. - Make the Candy Coating:
In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir gently over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. - Boil & Color:
Once dissolved, stop stirring and let the mixture boil until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer (about 15 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in food coloring and cinnamon if using. - Dip the Apples:
Working quickly and carefully, tilt the pot and dip each apple into the syrup, rotating to coat evenly. Let excess drip off, then place on prepared sheet. - Decorate (Optional):
While the coating is still tacky, press on sprinkles, mini candies, or drizzle with melted white chocolate for spooky effects. - Cool & Serve:
Let the apples cool and harden at room temperature for about 30–45 minutes before serving.
🕸️Tip: Store candied apples in individual cellophane wrappers or an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temp.
Want a version using caramel or chocolate instead? I can add that too!
