Tiramisu Dessert Recipe

Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert made with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, a rich mascarpone cream, and a dusting of cocoa powder. It’s a delicious, creamy treat that’s perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients:

  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups brewed espresso or strong coffee, cooled
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 2 packages of ladyfingers (about 24-30)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mascarpone Cream:
    In a large bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until thick and pale. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) and continue whisking for about 5 minutes until the mixture is thick and pale. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  2. Add Mascarpone Cheese:
    Once the egg mixture has cooled slightly, add the mascarpone cheese and mix until smooth and well combined.
  3. Whip the Cream:
    In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated and smooth.
  4. Prepare the Coffee Mixture:
    In a shallow dish, combine the brewed espresso (or coffee) and coffee liqueur (if using).
  5. Soak the Ladyfingers:
    Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture for 1-2 seconds. Do not soak too long, or they will become too soggy.
  6. Assemble the Tiramisu:
    Arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish or a similar-sized serving dish. Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
  7. Chill the Tiramisu:
    Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set.
  8. Finish and Serve:
    Before serving, dust the top with unsweetened cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired. Slice and serve chilled.
