Thick-Sliced Bread Often Used for Garlic Bread or as a Side Dish

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf thick-sliced Italian or French bread
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Prepare garlic butter: In a bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Spread on bread: Lay the bread slices on the baking sheet. Spread the garlic butter mixture generously over each slice.
  4. Optional: Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top for extra flavor.
  5. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the butter has melted.
  6. Serve: Serve warm as a side dish or with pasta, soup, or salad.
