Ingredients
- 1 cup butter (do not substitute)
- 2 cups packed dark brown sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 4 tablespoons whipping cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon salt (or more to taste)
Instructions
- In a large heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the brown sugar and corn syrup, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth and starts to bubble.
- Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and continue cooking, stirring often, until the caramel thickens (about 8–10 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in the whipping cream, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Let it cool slightly before pouring into a jar or container.
- The sauce will thicken more as it cools — reheat gently if needed before serving.
Tip:
Use this rich, buttery caramel sauce over ice cream, pancakes, brownies, or your favorite desserts! 😋
