Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 3 ¾ cups (470g) all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) instant yeast
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup (180ml) warm milk (110°F/43°C)
- 1 large egg
- ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
For the Filling:
- ½ cup (100g) brown sugar
- 2 ½ tbsp (20g) ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp (30ml) milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Make the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add melted butter, egg, and salt. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
2. Prepare the Filling:
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle (about 16×12 inches). Spread softened butter evenly over the surface.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top, pressing it gently into the dough.
3. Roll and Slice:
- Starting from the longer edge, tightly roll the dough into a log.
- Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
4. Let Rise Again:
- Cover the rolls and let them rise for 30–45 minutes until puffed. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
5. Bake:
- Bake the cinnamon rolls for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
6. Prepare the Glaze:
- While the rolls bake, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth.
7. Glaze and Serve:
- Let the cinnamon rolls cool slightly before drizzling the glaze generously over them.
- Serve warm and enjoy the gooey goodness!
