Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (warm)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a separate large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar with an electric mixer on high speed for about 5–7 minutes until thick, pale, and fluffy.
  4. Gently fold in the sifted dry ingredients in batches, mixing slowly to keep the batter airy.
  5. Combine the warm milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Slowly pour this mixture into the batter, folding gently until smooth and well incorporated.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and tap lightly to remove air bubbles.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
