Ingredients
For the crust:
- 1 can refrigerated pizza dough or crescent dough sheet
For the filling:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup pizza sauce (or marinara sauce)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup sliced pepperoni or cooked sausage (optional)
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for brushing)
- Optional: crushed red pepper, chopped basil, or parmesan for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or round baking pan.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until browned. Drain excess grease. Stir in garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and pizza sauce. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
- Roll out the pizza dough and gently press it into the bottom and sides of the prepared pie dish, leaving a bit of overhang.
- Spoon the beef mixture evenly into the dough-lined dish. Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top. Add pepperoni or sausage if using.
- Fold over any extra dough from the edges and optionally crimp it. Brush the dough edges with olive oil for a golden crust.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with optional crushed red pepper, basil, or parmesan.
- Slice and serve warm like a pizza pie!
