Ingredients
- Ripe avocados (as many as you’d like)
Instructions
- Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a bowl.
- Mash the avocado flesh well until smooth.
- Place the mashed avocado in a large pan or pot.
- Turn the stove to low heat. Cook the avocado slowly, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
- Continue heating until you see the oil separating from the pulp (this can take about 30–45 minutes).
- Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean container to collect the oil.
- Store your homemade avocado oil in an airtight jar or bottle in a cool, dark place.
Would you like me to write a short tip on how to get more oil out of the pulp too?
