Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 1 egg
- 80 grams of sugar (⅓ cup)
- 8 grams of vanilla yeast (about 1 packet)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 100 grams of all-purpose flour (¾ cup)

For the Chocolate Frosting:
- 200 grams of powdered sugar (1 ½ cups)
- 50 grams of cocoa powder (¼ cup)
- 100 grams of unsalted butter (¾ cup)
- 50 ml milk (about 3 tablespoons)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease or line a round cake pan (about 8 inches in diameter) with parchment paper.
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large bowl, beat the egg and sugar together until the mixture becomes fluffy and pale.
- Add the vanilla yeast and vanilla extract, mixing well.
- In another bowl, sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt together.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk, and stir until smooth.
- Mix in the melted butter and melted dark chocolate until fully combined.
- Bake:
- Pour the cake batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Make the Frosting:
- In a medium bowl, sift together the powdered sugar and cocoa powder.
- Beat the butter with the powdered sugar and cocoa until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add the milk and vanilla extract and continue to mix until the frosting reaches a fluffy consistency.
- Assemble the Cake:
- Once the cake is completely cooled, spread a generous amount of frosting on top and sides of the cake.
- Decorate with additional chocolate shavings or sprinkles if desired.
