The BEST Chocolate Cake I’ve Ever Had (& It’s So EASY To Make!)

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 1 egg
  • 80 grams of sugar (⅓ cup)
  • 8 grams of vanilla yeast (about 1 packet)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 100 grams of all-purpose flour (¾ cup)
  • 30 grams of cocoa powder (¼ cup)
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 50 ml milk (about 3 tablespoons)
  • 50 grams of melted butter (⅓ cup)
  • 50 grams of dark chocolate, melted

For the Chocolate Frosting:

  • 200 grams of powdered sugar (1 ½ cups)
  • 50 grams of cocoa powder (¼ cup)
  • 100 grams of unsalted butter (¾ cup)
  • 50 ml milk (about 3 tablespoons)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease or line a round cake pan (about 8 inches in diameter) with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, beat the egg and sugar together until the mixture becomes fluffy and pale.
    • Add the vanilla yeast and vanilla extract, mixing well.
    • In another bowl, sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt together.
    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk, and stir until smooth.
    • Mix in the melted butter and melted dark chocolate until fully combined.
