- 2 tablespoons granulated white sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon coarse cornmeal
- 2 tablespoons melted butter, for brushing on rolls
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the warm water, yeast, sugar, and salt. Let stand for 5 minutes, or until the yeast is foamy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, melted butter, vegetable oil, and egg.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, and stir until just combined.
- Turn out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead for 5-7 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough, and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
- Roll each piece of dough into a long, thin strip.
- Shape each strip into a horseshoe shape, and place on a greased baking sheet.
- Sprinkle the rolls with coarse cornmeal.
- Brush the rolls with melted butter.
- Bake the rolls in a preheated oven at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Enjoy!
