These soft, fluffy rolls are a staple at Texas Roadhouse restaurants. They’re perfect for soaking up butter or dipping in gravy.
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water (105-115°F)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup milk
Instructions:
- Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
- Combine ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the yeast mixture, egg, melted butter, flour, and salt. Stir in milk until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- First rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down and shape: Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball.
- Second rise: Place the shaped rolls on a greased baking sheet, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise for another 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Serve: Serve the rolls warm with butter or your favorite dipping sauce.
