Texas Roadhouse Rolls

Ingredient

  • For the Dough:
    • 4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
    • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
    • ¼ cup granulated sugar
    • 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 tsp salt
  • For the Honey Butter:
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
    • ¼ cup honey
    • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

Instruction

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Mix well.
    • Add the yeast mixture and gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead and Rise:
    • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours or until doubled in size.
  3. Shape the Rolls:
    • Punch down the dough and roll it out to about ½-inch thickness.
    • Cut into rectangles or squares (about 2×3 inches). Place the rolls on a greased baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart. Cover and let rise for another 30–40 minutes.
  4. Bake the Rolls:
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Make the Honey Butter:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together softened butter, honey, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  6. Serve:
    • Brush the warm rolls with melted butter and serve with honey butter on the side.
