1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 cup beef broth or water
Optional: sliced bell peppers, onions, or your choice of vegetables
Fresh herbs for garnish (like parsley or cilantro)
Instructions:
Prepare the Beef: Start by thinly slicing the beef against the grain to ensure tenderness. Place the slices in a bowl.
Marinate: In the bowl with the beef, add the minced garlic, salt, black pepper, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well until the beef is coated evenly. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.
Heat the Pan: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Allow it to sear without stirring for about 2 minutes.
Stir-Fry: After the beef has a nice brown color on one side, stir it quickly and add your choice of vegetables (if using). Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the beef is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.
Make the Sauce: Pour in the beef broth or water, scraping the bottom of the pan to deglaze and pick up any flavorful bits. Allow it to simmer for another minute to thicken slightly.
Serve: Remove from heat, garnish with fresh herbs if desired, and serve immediately over rice or noodles. Enjoy your quick and tender beef dish!
