Crispy, seasoned fries inspired by the popular Taco Bell Nacho Fries, served with a bold and creamy nacho cheese sauce. Perfect for a snack, appetizer, or side dish!

Ingredients

For the Fries:

  • 4 large russet potatoes, cut into thin fries
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Salt, to taste

For the Nacho Cheese Sauce:

  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fries:
    • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) or set up your air fryer at 400°F (200°C).
    • In a large bowl, toss the potato fries with olive oil and seasonings (smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, and salt).
    • Spread the fries on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy. For air frying, cook in batches for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway.
  2. Make the Nacho Cheese Sauce:
    • In a small saucepan, whisk evaporated milk and cornstarch over medium heat until slightly thickened.
    • Reduce heat to low, and gradually stir in shredded cheeses until melted and smooth.
    • Add garlic powder and cayenne pepper (if using), and mix well.
  3. Assemble and Serve:
    • Place the hot fries on a serving plate and drizzle with nacho cheese sauce, or serve the sauce on the side for dipping.
    • Garnish with chopped parsley, jalapeño slices, or a sprinkle of extra chili powder, if desired.
