Ingredients
For the Fries:
- 4 large russet potatoes, cut into thin fries
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- Salt, to taste
For the Nacho Cheese Sauce:
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
- 3/4 cup evaporated milk
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
Instructions
- Prepare the Fries:
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) or set up your air fryer at 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, toss the potato fries with olive oil and seasonings (smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, and salt).
- Spread the fries on a baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy. For air frying, cook in batches for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway.
- Make the Nacho Cheese Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, whisk evaporated milk and cornstarch over medium heat until slightly thickened.
- Reduce heat to low, and gradually stir in shredded cheeses until melted and smooth.
- Add garlic powder and cayenne pepper (if using), and mix well.
- Assemble and Serve:
- Place the hot fries on a serving plate and drizzle with nacho cheese sauce, or serve the sauce on the side for dipping.
- Garnish with chopped parsley, jalapeño slices, or a sprinkle of extra chili powder, if desired.
