Sweet and Spicy Meatballs Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Meatballs:
    • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, onion, green bell pepper, garlic, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
    • Mix well until thoroughly combined.
    • Form mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. Cook the Meatballs:
    • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add meatballs to the skillet and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides.
    • Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce:
    • In the same skillet, add marinara sauce, honey, and balsamic vinegar.
    • Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Combine and Serve:
    • Return meatballs to the sauce and coat evenly.
    • Simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until meatballs are cooked through and sauce is thickened.
    • Serve over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.
