- 4 medium apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom (optional)

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round or square baking dish.
- Prepare the apples:
Toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, cardamom (if using), and 1/2 cup of sugar. Set aside. - Make the batter:
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, beat eggs and 1/2 cup sugar until pale and thick. Add melted butter and vanilla extract, then mix well.
Gently fold in the dry ingredients until smooth. - Assemble the cake:
Pour the batter into the greased baking dish. Arrange the apple slices on top in a single or slightly overlapping layer. - Bake:
Bake for 40–45 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. - Cool and serve:
