- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup plain yogurt or sour cream
- ¼ cup milk
(Optional Topping)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Fresh berries or sliced fruits
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper. - Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. - Cream Butter & Sugar:
In a separate large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes. - Add Eggs & Vanilla:
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract. - Combine Wet & Dry:
Add half of the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Mix, then add yogurt and milk. Mix again, then stir in the remaining dry ingredients until just combined. - Bake the Cake:
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. - Cool & Serve:
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar or serve with fruit.
