INGREDIENTS
- 1½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup (120ml) sour cream or plain yogurt
- ¼ cup (60ml) milk
- Optional topping: powdered sugar or fresh fruit
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Stir in the sour cream (or yogurt) and milk until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar or top with fruit if desired. Slice and enjoy!
