Ingredients:
For the Cake:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 5 large eggs, separated
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Milk Mixture:
- 1 cup whole milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
For the Topping:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups fresh strawberries, sliced
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Prepare the Cake Batter: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, beat the egg yolks with ¾ cup of sugar until pale and creamy. Stir in the milk and vanilla. Gradually add the flour mixture.
- In another bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the remaining ¼ cup sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the yolk mixture until combined.
- Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool.
- Prepare the Milk Mixture: In a bowl, combine whole milk, heavy cream, evaporated milk, and sweetened condensed milk.
- Poke holes all over the cooled cake using a fork or skewer. Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in completely. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Make the Whipped Cream Topping: Beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a chilled bowl until stiff peaks form.
- Spread the whipped cream over the chilled cake. Top with sliced strawberries.
- Serve: Slice and serve the cake chilled. Enjoy the luscious combination of cream and strawberries!
