This easy dump cake combines the flavors of strawberry cheesecake with minimal effort. It’s perfect for a quick dessert!
Ingredients:
- 1 (15-ounce) can crushed pineapple, undrained
- 1 (21-ounce) can strawberry pie filling
- 1 (18.25-ounce) box yellow cake mix
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened and cut into small cubes
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
Instructions:
- Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Layer Pineapple and Pie Filling: Pour the undrained crushed pineapple into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. Then, spoon the strawberry pie filling over the pineapple, also spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle Cake Mix: Evenly sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the strawberry pie filling. Do not mix.
- Add Cream Cheese: Distribute the softened cream cheese cubes evenly over the dry cake mix.
- Pour Melted Butter: Slowly pour the melted butter evenly over the entire surface of the cake mix. Try to get the butter to cover as much of the dry cake mix as possible.
- Bake: Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set. The cream cheese will melt and create a cheesecake-like layer.
- Cool and Serve: Let the cake cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. You can serve it warm or cold. Optional: Top with whipped cream or a dusting of powdered sugar.
Tips and Variations:
- For a richer flavor, use a cream cheese flavored cake mix.
- You can substitute other fruit pie fillings, such as blueberry or cherry.
- If you would like to have a graham cracker crust, you can put down a layer of graham cracker crumbs before the pineapple.
- If you would like to add nuts, you can add chopped pecans or walnuts to the top of the cake before baking.
- Ensure that the cream cheese is softened, this allows for easier distribution, and melting.
