Stir-Fried Shrimp and Broccoli Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or sesame oil)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for a slight sweetness)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, water, and honey. Set aside.
  2. Blanch the broccoli: Bring a pot of water to boil. Add broccoli florets and cook for 1–2 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. Cook the shrimp: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add shrimp, season with a little salt and pepper, and stir-fry until pink and cooked through (about 2–3 minutes). Remove shrimp from the pan and set aside.
  4. Stir-fry: Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the same pan. Add garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Combine everything: Add the broccoli and shrimp back to the pan. Pour in the sauce and toss everything together until the sauce thickens and coats the shrimp and broccoli (about 1–2 minutes).
  6. Serve: Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired. Serve hot over rice or noodles!
