Stir-fried Pork Belly with Okra Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) pork belly, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 lb (225g) okra, trimmed and cut diagonally
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
Rinse and slice the pork belly. Wash and cut the okra diagonally. Mince garlic and slice the onion.
  2. Sear the Pork Belly:
In a large pan or wok over medium-high heat, add the cooking oil. Once hot, add the pork belly. Stir-fry until the edges are browned and fat is rendered, about 5–7 minutes.
  3. Add Aromatics:
Add the minced garlic and sliced onion to the pan. Cook for 2 minutes until fragrant and translucent.
  4. Season the Pork:
Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and a pinch of pepper. Mix well to coat the pork.
  5. Add the Okra:
Toss in the sliced okra. Stir-fry for 3–5 minutes until just tender but still crisp. Season with salt to taste.
  6. Finish Up:
(Optional) Drizzle sesame oil over the dish and give a final stir.
  7. Serve:
Transfer to a plate and serve hot with steamed rice.
