Sticky Honey Garlic Ribs

Ingredients

For the Ribs:

  • 2 to 3 lbs pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika (optional)
  • 1 tbsp oil (for searing)

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 tbsp garlic paste)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tsp water (for thickening)

🌟 Optional Garnishes:

  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ribs:
    • Pat ribs dry. Remove the silver skin (membrane) from the back of the ribs for tenderness.
    • Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  2. Sear (Optional but flavorful):
    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Sear ribs on both sides until browned (about 2–3 minutes per side). This step adds a nice crust.
  3. Bake the Ribs:
    • Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
    • Place ribs on a baking sheet lined with foil. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 2.5 to 3 hours until tender.
  4. Make the Sticky Sauce:
    • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, ketchup, garlic, vinegar, and sesame oil.
    • Bring to a simmer, then add the cornstarch slurry. Cook until thickened (about 2 minutes). Set aside.
  5. Glaze and Broil:
    • When ribs are done, remove foil. Brush with generous amounts of the honey garlic sauce.
    • Broil for 3–5 minutes or grill until sticky and caramelized. Watch closely to avoid burning.
  6. Serve:
    • Slice into individual ribs.
    • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
