Ingredients
For the Ribs:
- 2 to 3 lbs pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika (optional)
- 1 tbsp oil (for searing)
For the Honey Garlic Sauce:
- ½ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 5 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 tbsp garlic paste)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
- 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tsp water (for thickening)
🌟 Optional Garnishes:
- Toasted sesame seeds
- Chopped green onions
Instructions
- Prepare the Ribs:
- Pat ribs dry. Remove the silver skin (membrane) from the back of the ribs for tenderness.
- Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- Sear (Optional but flavorful):
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear ribs on both sides until browned (about 2–3 minutes per side). This step adds a nice crust.
- Bake the Ribs:
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Place ribs on a baking sheet lined with foil. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 2.5 to 3 hours until tender.
- Make the Sticky Sauce:
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, ketchup, garlic, vinegar, and sesame oil.
- Bring to a simmer, then add the cornstarch slurry. Cook until thickened (about 2 minutes). Set aside.
- Glaze and Broil:
- When ribs are done, remove foil. Brush with generous amounts of the honey garlic sauce.
- Broil for 3–5 minutes or grill until sticky and caramelized. Watch closely to avoid burning.
- Serve:
- Slice into individual ribs.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
