State Fair Lemonade Recipe

Ingredient

  • 6 fresh lemons (you’ll need about 1 cup lemon juice)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 cups cold water (divided)
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Roll the lemons on the counter with your palm to loosen the juice, then slice in half and juice them until you get 1 cup of fresh lemon juice. Remove seeds.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water with 1 cup of sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves completely (about 2–3 minutes). This is your simple syrup.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice and the simple syrup. Stir well.
  4. Add the remaining 4 cups of cold water and stir again. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness if desired by adding more water or sugar.
  5. Refrigerate until cold, or serve immediately over a glass filled with ice.
  6. Garnish with lemon slices for that extra fair flair!
