Ingredients
- 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 8 cups water, divided
- 6 black tea bags (or your favorite tea)
- 1 lemon, sliced (optional)
- Fresh mint leaves (optional)
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the strawberries are soft and the sugar has dissolved (about 10 minutes).
- Remove from heat and mash the strawberries gently with a spoon or potato masher. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl or pitcher to remove the pulp. Discard the solids and let the syrup cool.
- Meanwhile, bring the remaining 6 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add the tea bags, and let steep for 5–7 minutes (longer for stronger tea). Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool slightly.
- Pour the tea into a large pitcher. Add the cooled strawberry syrup and stir well. Chill in the fridge for at least an hour.
- Serve over ice with fresh lemon slices and mint leaves if desired.
