Ingredients:
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef (or mix of beef and pork)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, soak breadcrumbs in milk for 5 minutes.
- Add ground meat, onion, garlic, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme. Mix gently until combined.
- Shape mixture into a loaf and place in a greased baking dish or loaf pan.
- Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top.
- Bake for 60–70 minutes, or until meatloaf reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Tips:
- For extra flavor, sauté onions and garlic before mixing.
- Use a mix of beef and pork for a juicier meatloaf.
- Leftovers make great sandwiches!
- Add a little brown sugar or honey to the ketchup topping for a sweet glaze.
